This study aimed to examine a specific type of anxiety experienced by foreign language learners when they make oral class presentations in English. The data analyzed came from a group of twenty-six undergraduate English-major students studying in a private university in southern Taiwan. The major research instrument used to obtain the data was a self-reported questionnaire administered to the study participants straight after they completed making individual oral presentations in their English Speaking class. The participants were asked to report on their perceptions of English presentation anxiety and the causes of such anxiety. The results of the survey concluded that Taiwanese students perceived an oral presentation in English as the most anxiety-provoking activity in the class. All study participants reported anxiety during their presentations in class irrespective of the preparation quality and time. The key factors leading to such anxiety were related to the teacherís feedback, preparation, and audience attention. The findings may contribute valid information on a specific type of speaking anxiety that is experienced by foreign language students making oral presentations in front of the class. The findings might also be of use to those language teachers who look for ways to make their classroom environment more comfortable for students.
